At Swanley Bridge Marina, the engineering workshop is equipped with a 20-tonne overhead hoist capable of safely lifting narrowboats up to 70ft in length. The hoist’s main lifting points are positioned twenty feet apart along the hull, ensuring even weight distribution and preventing any flexing during the lift. The hoist operates at a true 90-degree lift from the overhead gantry resulting in minimal pressure being placed on the cabin structure.

The workshop hoist can be used to load a narrowboat onto an HGV trailer for transport anywhere in the UK, as well as to offload boats arriving at Swanley Bridge Marina for relocation or long-term mooring.

Additionally, our hardstanding yard is designed to accommodate external crane operators. This space allows cranes to lift boats directly onto HGV transport vehicles, providing further flexibility for road haulage and boat movement.
