Dry Dock Engineering & DIY Sheds

We operate two DIY sheds as dry docks that you can hire to work on your own boat. Both of which can accommodate a 70ft narrowboat undercover and are complete with lighting and ample power outlets. Boats sit safely on blocks so that the work can be carried out at a convenient height.

These facilities are very close to our slipway where our unique narrowboatboat trailer can collect and launch your boat, thus saving crane hire.

An advantage in using one of the DIY sheds over a traditional dry dock is that paint cures quicker in a lower moisture environment.

A fully serviced workshop is also on site offering a full range of boatyard services…

DIY Shed

There are many opinions as to how often and how much of the hull should be blacked. After seeing the condition of many boats we recommend blacking every two years including the bottom. This will ensure that your boat's hull remains in pristine condition and that corrosion does not take hold reducing the thickness of the bottom plates.

Shot Blasting

Every ten years it would be beneficial to shot blast the hull before blacking. This is also a service that can be arranged.

Note: Due to the popularity of the DIY sheds we recommend advance bookings.
